Jungle Talk: the Amazon Basin

The Amazon is the world's largest tropical rainforest. It is roughtly the size of the 48 contiguous US states and includes parts of eight South American countries.

Its ecosystem contains 40,000 plant species, 1,300 bird species, 3,000 types of fish, 430 mammals and a whopping 2.5 million different insects.

Our speaker, Ken Thomas, is professor of biology at Northern Essex Community College. Professor Thomas regularly conducts research in the Amazon basin.

Do you have a song in your heart? Come share it with other song lovers at the Kelley Library! Bring yourselves, your voices, your acoustic instruments, and lyrics, to the Beshara Room on the first Friday of each month at 7:00pm.

We will have copies of the Rise Up Singing songbook to help inspire us! Each person will select one song per round we will sing as a group. Learn new songs and delight in old favorites. See you then!
